Mesquite from Central Texas

In order to increase the overall scale of this spiraling horn, it was necessary to laminate pieces to double their width. The vertical lines of each segment show where the laminations occur. This piece is constructed from a mesquite trunk rescued from a brush pile along the Medina River, milled in Hays County, and constructed in Austin, Texas. It stands 26.5″ tall and is 8.75″ diameter at its base.
