This wooden, spiraling horn is made of spalted pecan with thin, contrasting maple slices between the segments. The spalted pecan, harvested in central Texas, also includes voids (seen here in the lower third of the piece) that were the result of boring worms feasting on the wood. These voids occur randomly throughout the piece. This horn gently twirls upwards from its base, growing narrower and narrower until it reaches its tip. It is not an illusion that the piece leans slightly. The tilt adds interest and options for its display. The piece is 19″ tall and 5.5″ in diameter at its base.
