Lyptus from Sustainable Farm in Bazil, S.A.

This is one of the more open shells with little hidden inside the 36 degree turn. It is constructed of a wood called Lyptus. It is a cross between two species of eucalyptus and is being grown on sustainable farms in Brazil. The quality of the wood rivals oak, cherry, and mahogany. When rubbed with tung oil, the strong grain lines readily appear. Having an open look, I added a small whimsical cube of contrasting Texas ash to place in the belly of the shell. From the bottom of the base to the top of the shell is 6.75″ high, 8″ from the back of the shell to the lip, and 4.75″ across the mouth of the shell.
