Central Texas Bald Cypress

This shell is made from a cypress trunk submerged in the Medina River, Medina County, Texas for 100 years. Exposed in 2011 during a hellish period of drought throughout Texas, the tree was segmented and removed. The trunk was approximately 6 feet in diameter, thus a very old tree. Upon drying out, the wood is amazingly light in weight. It sits upon a tall base made of cypress from the same source. The shell, measured from the bottom of the base, is 8.25″ tall, 8.5″ from the back of the shell to the leading edge of the lip, and 5.75″ across the mouth.
